They’re baaaack! The twins and Miss J are back again! It has been almost exactly one year since I first had the pleasure of shooting these super duper cute kids, and I cannot believe how much they have all changed! The boys are starting to look like little men (and SO much like mom and dad it’s just b-a-n-a-n-a-s!), and of course Miss J was only a few months old the first time we met, so…. Stay tuned – more pics to come very soon!

I had the pleasure of photographing the big day for Keith and Laura this past Saturday! I really don’t think the day could have gone more smoothly – what a fabulous start to their new lives together! What was supposed to be a stormy, steamy day, turned into a (still a bit warm, but…) breezy, clear day in Forest Park! Of course Forest Park is one of the most beautiful settings for any event, the bride (and groom, of course did an amazing job with the details – the flowers… OH the flowers! To DIE for! And the dress… b-e-a-utiful!!!

The Jewel Box in Forest Park was not only a gorgeous backdrop, but it was air conditioned! :-)
… I have to apologize to the bride and groom for attempting to roast them to get these shots! They were such good sports and allowed these shots despite the heat!
Um, hello AMAZING shoes… seriously – one of my favorite details of the wedding!! Could Laura be any more beautiful – these next two are just so dreamy… I hope they love them as much as I do!

And of course we couldn’t do formals in Forest Park without including some of the amazing architecture that is featured throughout the park!

I had shown Laura this first picture on the back of my camera as we were shooting and she fell in love as did I! I love it even more here, so I hope she does too!
We stopped off at the Muny and of course there were, I think, four bridal parties taking pictures when we arrived! Holy moly that’s a lot of brides! I wanted to get all of the brides together, but I don’t think anyone was on board with me! ;-) Instead we opted for a theatrical break – each person took on one of the personalities from one of the productions featured at the Muny this summer. We had Cats, Beauty and the Beast, Old Man River, Footloose… I know there were more… who am I forgetting? Regardless, we tried to have a little fun with it and everyone humored me long enough to get the shot!

We ended up skipping the last few locations we had planned on hitting for an ice cream break at Ted Drewes! These pictures crack me up!Details, details! Again with those flowers!! And bravo to Melissa Cusumano (the maid of honor!) for taking the time out of her bridesmaids duties to create the beautiful cake for her friend and bride!
The World’s Fair Pavilion is gorgeous all on it’s own, but the breeze that greeted us after a long afternoon of pictures was just heavenly! They could not have asked for better weather!After dinner we headed outside for a few pictures because the light was just sooooo yummy!And what do buildings with amazing architecture have? Amazing lighting!The grand finally (that is putting it mildly, eh?!) was an outstanding fireworks show that the father of the bride surprised his daughter and new son-in-law with! Due to the smoke, it’s hard to see, but there was a sign that read “Keith and Laura” in fireworks! Very, very cool!!!

Congratulations to the happy couple! Here is to many, many years of wedded bliss!

It has been a week full of big moments in our household! My oldest started middle school – with no tardies, forgotten locker combinations, or missed buses to report – and my middle dude headed off to Kindergarten! Good luck to all of the kids starting off their year this week and in the coming weeks! They will be grown before we know it! =)

I think, like most photographers, there is nothing I love more in the world of photography than really amazing photographers!! I headed out with my second photographer (Mrs. Heather Rega of Heather Rega Photography) this week to scout the location of an upcoming wedding, and she caught some super cute pics of my littlest dude, Adler. She does NOT give herself enough credit – amazing, right?!?

Okay, so definitely NOT the Brady Bunch with only three kids, but tons of fun nonetheless!! Traci is a good photographer friend of mine who is finally updating their family pics as their current picture was taken when their middle dude was a newborn! My how quickly families change! We had a ton of fun, played a few rounds of Candyland, and even shared secrets about mom and dad (don’t worry, I won’t tell!)! More to come…

I had the pleasure of second shooting a wedding with Mrs. Amanda Zika of Dreaming Tree Photography last weekend! While it was pretty darn warm outside, we had a total blast, and got some great shots! Second shooting is SO much fun because you are able to hang back, look for the little, intimate details of the day without the pressure and responsibility of capturing the overall story of the day! Congratulations to Aaron and Jill on their new life together!!!

{The End of Awkward School Pictures!}

Well, we have been working diligently on a super secret new offering here at Donnell Probst Photography and we are VERY excited to finally be able to share in our little bit of semi-annual joy! One of my favorite perks of being a professional photographer is being able to say “No Thank You” to those pricey and awkward school pictures each fall and spring (did you know you don’t HAVE to buy them? Just send the envelope of pictures back to school with your child and you’re done)! Why do I pass on school photos? Well, let’s see here… we have had post-gym-class hair, boogers (yes, I just said boogers on my blog!), deer-in-headlight smiles, half closed eyes, chunks of hair sticking out, food in the teeth, and stains on the shirt in our school pictures over the years. And to top it all off, I usually end up shelling out $60-80 for way too many personality-free pictures because they threaten to hold my pictures hostage unless I buy the minimum package!

So I’d like to invite all K-12 parents to join me in saying “NO!” to awkward school pictures! You can enjoy the same luxury I experience by passing on formal school pictures and booking a sKoolPix session with Donnell Probst Photography! We will be offering two dates in September with two fabulous locations to chose from each day – both offering unlimited unique photographic opportunities - none of which include a dull gray backdrop or a stool with a masking tape “t” on the floor! AND – next time Aunt Edna asks you for a picture of the kids – you no longer have to dig around for the big white envelope or tell her your out of pictures! Simply print as many copies as you need – wallets, 5×7’s or wall-sized murals… no waste, no awkwardness!

Evening sessions will be held at Faust Park in Chesterfield which offers a historical village and tons of green space. For something a little less traditional and a little more urban, a morning session at the Graffiti Wall might be what the doctor ordered! This area, about one mile south of the Arch on the riverfront has a huge graffiti wall, railroad tracks, and all of the bold colors and grungy industrialness that makes for amazing photographs! Welcome to the Wonderful World of the Wacky Wolaks! Seriously – super fun family and despite the awful sticky heat, I could have hung out with my new friends B and R all day long! There were tons of smiles, super well-behaved kids, an amazingly laid back mom and dad, and even a water fight! I mean seriously, does it get any better than that?! I had a blast! One of my absolute favorite sessions are senior sessions – or graduate sessions as this so happens to be! Oh to be cute and 18 again… even in the blistering heat and humidity of the St. Louis summer! We got out this morning and had to take many air conditioned breaks between shots in order to make it through the day. Regardless, “S” did a great job of looking beau-tiful despite the sweltering weather!
