As a wedding photographer I see so many couples throughout the year. It is incredibly amazing to watch two people come together and vow to spend the rest of their lives together. As a wife and mother, every time the officiant gets to that part about “for better or worse”, my mind rests for one second on the fact that while weddings are amazing, marriage is hard! Add to that becoming parents or having careers and it can sometimes seem downright impossible!

Enter Bob and Nicole.

Bob and Nicole have been together for over eight years and have two beautiful little girls. Nicole is a stylist and Bob is a pastry chef. They are surrounded by loving family and friends. So this wedding was different for me. I knew by watching them tend to their girls throughout the day and interact with each other that they had climbed many a marital mountain before stepping up to that alter. There was a comfort between them that was easy. They had made the journey and despite the ups and downs that they have undoubtedly encountered along the way, they were still “the one” for each other. THAT is true love!

Yes, this is, in fact, the most. amazing. bouquet. EVER. I have never seen anything like it! Stunning!!!

This image melts my heart… I saw Ava looking up to her mom like this so many times throughout the day. I’m pretty sure Nicole is her hero!
You all know how I feel about first looks… love!And the venue? To. Die. For.Not only is Nicole one of the most easy going brides we’ve had, but she is stunning. Just stunning.Best wedding party ever. They were a total blast and didn’t complain once! Awesome!Nicole gave her bridesmaids clutches instead of flowers! Such a neat detail!!Between the venue and these nearby digs for formals… I was in heaven.
Yes, this is picture 472 of the flowers. I love them.We need more venues like this in St. Louis! Props to Mark, the owner of Catering St. Louis who also owns this venue!Right after the ceremony, they transformed the patio into a lounge. Now forgive me while I geek out on all of the incredible details… The toasts were so funny and incredibly moving. I was definitely holding back some tears… always makes it difficult to focus when I’m looking through watery eyes!This was the first family cake cutting I’ve shot! Loved it! There wasn’t a time that these girls weren’t welcomed and included into the days events. It was so neat to see!Bob and Nicole also opted to have a group “first dance” as this was, according to the DJ, “Not their first dance…”! LOLI’m a sucker for a dad and his little girls…I love catching moments like this where a groom is just really enjoying himself. And yes… they get 2nd cutest couple of the night (sorry, you can’t trump the bride/groom)! :) So much fun and so good looking!

The Lehmann Family | Waterloo, Illinois

I told this amazing family that I wouldn’t have their sneak peek up until tomorrow, but they were just so much fun and so kind that I had to sneak it in tonight. That and it offers a nice diversion from finishing cleaning out closets! A huge thank you to the Lehmann family for toughing it out despite the fact that mother nature insisted on misting us steadily for the first half hour of our session! I could not have cared less as I was in photog heaven having my way with their family farm!

I hope you guys enjoy these as much as I do… and yes, they are as much fun as they look!

The Nothaus Family | Kyah Probst

If you follow me on Facebook, you may have read that Kyah, my twelve year old daughter, has been learning her way around the dSLR camera! You may remember this video we made about her journey with photography…. yes, she’s a totally awesome kid. Not that I’m biased or anything. Well, I am so excited to share with you her very first family session! She had the pleasure of shooting for one of my dear friends, Suzy, and her family – Barclay, Owen, and Levi!

And for anyone who shoots family photography… you know shooting two young boys is not an easy task!

Add on to that the fact that Kyah was used to shooting with my old Nikon D50 and that I decided at the last minute she should use my D7000 (which has different control locations and is set to back button focus), giving her less than 24 hours to get used to all these new features on the camera! And she still rocked it out!! And for all the photogs out there – she shoots in manual and I edited the images using the same settings I use for my own images!

Tim and I could not be more proud of our little tog and can’t wait to see where her talents take her! Fabulous job, Baberino!!!

Dear Internets… I Love My Neighbors | Sneak Peek

Oh how I love my neighbors… let me count thy ways! No, seriously – they are the best neighbors a girl could have! So when they asked if I could come over and grab a few pictures while they had family in town, of course I said yes! I wish I had more time to sit and chat without my three wonky kids around as one of the sister’s was visiting from Africa where she is a missionary! How amazing is that? Maybe next time she travels 1/3 of the way around the world (or however far that is) the hubs will be in town so I can go get chatty with my fave neighbors! :) I couldn’t post anything else for their sneak peek because this is SO them! It’s a framer for sure! :))

Okay… I just had to add this one! LOVE! :)

Bath Time | Personal

I had the good fortune of heading to Kansas City with my ultra hip mom friends for a girls trip this past weekend. While the break was welcomed and needed, I was also so super happy to see my kids when I got home! And for as much work as I have to catch up on after being gone for three days (since it seems the only way I can keep my biz running smoothly is to work 24/7), I took a little time to hang with my littlest man this morning in the tub. For those of you with little people in your lives, you know this is the favorite hang out spot. And after replacing my big camera with a point-and-shoot all weekend, I was happy to lay on my kids’ bathroom floor with my favorite Nikon and take pics of my favorite youngest child in his favorite place!

Triple the Fun | Sneak Peek

Yesssssss…. ladies and gentlemen, I survived the triplets! And they were totally awesome. No meltdowns, everyone was relaxed, listening, and being completely adorably cute! Kudos to mom and dad for surviving this long! :)) Oh, and SO glad spring is here! Huge thank you to Meghan for helping me out and packing all of my gear while I wandered aimlessly with the little people!

Sneak Peek | Studio

Here is a quick sneak peek of our studio session this morning! Any time you are photographing tiny walking people, there are usually lots of songs, ridiculous sounds, and strange faces being made throughout the session… this was no exception! I couldn’t resist the first pic. Just hilarious! I’d also like to thank mom, Tina, for her lovely singing voice and Heather for finding some hilarious kids songs to play! Too much fun!!!

The Frank Kids | Studio

Well, the studio is in full swing now and we were so excited to have my friend Tena come in with her three GOHR-geous kids to help us test out the lights for groups. Looks like everything went well, there were no tears, AND I think Tena got a little break by having two extra sets of hands in myself and Heather!

I had the extreme pleasure of visiting with the Safron Family tonight in celebration of mother/grandmother/great-grandmother’s 80th birthday! They were such a fun – and good looking – bunch! We were even serenaded by her very talented grandson who is an actor/singer out in Los Angeles… such a great family!

Here is a quick sneak peek from our very, very chilly session with the winner of the free Digi-Mini Session on Facebook! We headed down to Kimmswick, which if you haven’t been, it’s loaded with cutesy shops and a restaurant or two. A great place to shop for Christmas decor during the holiday season for sure! Miss L was a total trooper today and managed the cold like a pro… certainly better than I did in my coat, scarf, hat, and gloves! :) More to come soon of the whole family!
