{Color Blast}

October 28, 2009

Well, this was my first session shot fully in the rain… yes, MORE rain!  Could it rain any more in St. Louis this fall!?  Regardless, we had a blast and the boys were total troopers!  I am absolutely in LOVE with the colors in these pictures!storyboard1storyboard2

{Rain, rain stay away!}

October 26, 2009

The fall colors on the trees this year have been absolutely spectacular and this past weekend was quite possibly the best weekend for fall colors! Here is another session with tons of beautiful colors – and we managed to avoid the rain – it started raining just as we were finishing up!storyboard1storyboard2

{And baby makes FIVE!}

Well, this is round two for the Carmichael cuties!  Since we saw them last, they found out they are now expecting another sibling, so mom and dad are trying to get in their final few moments of peace and quiet before Baby Carmichael’s arrival in February!  storyboard2storyboard1 storyboard3

{So Cal}

October 23, 2009

I just returned from a very quick jaunt to southern California to accompany my grandmother around San Diego after attending her 70th high school reunion.  Since many of her friends have passed over the years, she is not sure if she will be returning to her hometown after this trip, so she wanted to be certain to see all of the places she had been so familiar with growing up.  Wow, what a trip down memory lane for her!  We visited three of her previous homes, including a home she and my grandfather built by themselves over the course of about 15 years before my grandfather was killed in a dune buggy accident when my mom was 18.  We headed through Balboa Park, Harbor Island, Point Loma, Rosecrans National Cemetery (where both of my grandfathers are buried), La Jolla (Cove and Shores) and downtown.  We got a lot accomplished in a way-too-short four day period and I even managed to sneak in some pictures along the way.  I will be referring to these pictures throughout the cold and icy winter months here in St. Louis!storyboard1storyboard2storyboard3

{Falling into Autumn}

October 20, 2009

This was one of my last non-raining shoots before the mini-monsoon we’ve been having here in St. Louis for the past week or so!  The weather was gorgeous and these two had so much fun exploring this awesome park and all of the fall treasures that it had to offer!  storyboard1storyboard3storyboard2

{Down on the farm}

October 13, 2009

Well, yet another session was rained out by this CRAZY St. Louis weather!   Fortunately, we were still able to sneak in a few good pics of this very grown-up little dude!  I *heart* his Run DMC t-shirt!!storyboard3

{Boys Will Be Boys}

October 13, 2009

I am headed out to San Diego on Friday, so I am trying to get all of my sessions edited before I leave… there is nothing like having work looming overhead while you are on vacation!  If I weren’t leaving my laptop in St. Louis for some more updating by my in-house tech support (thank you, honey!), I would surely try to sneak in some editing time!  I was so happy to get mom these pictures before I left and hope she loves them as much as I do!  These boys are FULL of personality – which as I told her, I would take any day of the week over bumps on a log!  storyboard1storyboard3storyboard4

{Locust Among Us}

October 7, 2009

This was a very fun shoot filled with bug shells and a mix of Cubs and Cardinals fans… And these are just two of the cutest brothers ever, if I don’t say so myself!!storyboard1

{Look of the Week}

October 5, 2009

As the weather gets a bit colder, it is the perfect time of year to start introducing bold colors and texture to your portrait wardrobe!  Patterns are perfectly acceptable and can be used together with other patterns to form visually appealing outfits.  Tip: When mixing patterns, introduce one bold/large print and compliment that print with smaller, repetitive prints (stripes, dots, etc.) in the same or complimentary color family.lookoftheweek2

{Laney Bug}

October 3, 2009

I have to apologize for all of the pictures in this post – I am in love with every picture from this shoot and just could not decide!  This is my friend’s daughter, Laney, who came down from Chicago to have her six year pictures done.   My friend Jen gave me complete creative control over the shoot including location, outfit selection (of course she brought the super cute clothes to choose from!), and post-processing.  I have to say, I could not be happier with the results!  I have been wanting to do an “urban” shoot for quite some time, and frankly, I may never go back to another park!  ;-)  We stayed within a one block radius, and there were so many interesting places to shoot and background to be found that I’m pretty sure we could have stayed there for another two hours!  I highly recommend the urban locations to all future clients!storyboard1storyboard2storyboard3
